This one-month raw food detox treatment promises cleansing. healing and weight loss.

Toxins are everywhere, and Natasha Kyssa makes a good argument in The Simply Raw Living Foods Detox Manual for cleansing our bodies to reduce internal toxins. The program described in this detox treatment manual relies more heavily on organic raw foods than vitamins and supplements, contributing to lasting dietary changes.

How the Detox Treatment Works

Ms. Kyssa has developed a four-week course for home detox which starts somewhat gradually. Most food consumed on this plan is raw. During the first week, a small amount of cooked foods are incorporated into the plan. After that, they are eliminated. But the raw food suggestions have plenty of delicious options and recipes that would appeal to a regular cook too. Also included in the detox treatment:

  • Lots of juicing (a juicer might be useful, but not necessary)
  • A regular colon cleanse
  • Some vitamins and supplements
  • Regular exercise
  • Detoxing the home

Why Detox: Weight Loss, Healthy Immune Systems, Natural Beauty

As far as weight loss systems go, it's hard to argue with a one-month raw food detox. There's plenty of dietary variety, and every food suggested is organic, healthy and nutritious. A hopeful bonus is that some of these healthful changes will stick with the newly-detoxed reader, contributing to a healthy immune system and fabulous free natural beauty bonuses, such as great skin and hair.

Creating A Nontoxic Home

Suggestions for detoxing the home environment are also included. Here is a sampling of ideas mentioned in the book:

  • Avoid scented products
  • Skip fabric softeners
  • Store food in glass
  • Bathe in filtered water
  • Choose organic foods
  • Avoid aspartame
  • Remove shoes before entering the house
  • Purchase air-purifying plants such as English ivy, spider plants or Boston Fern

Summary

Reading the preface to The Simply Raw Living Foods Detox Manual is enough to make a reader want to give detox a shot. Ms. Kyssa is obviously beautiful, as shown in the book's photograph, but did not come to healthy living easily. Her prior battles with eating disorders, cigarette smoking and weight gain show that she knows what it's like to succumb to unhealthy temptations and struggle with food-related addictions. Her healthy lifestyle today is testament to the success of this program. Recipes in the back will appeal to readers who do not wish to commit to the full month's system but would like to incorporate healthier raw foods into their diet.
